Product Engineering Intern - Summer 2027 at Immuta

Immuta is the Data Authorization Company, helping the world’s largest organizations control who, and what, can access their data.

The way enterprises access data is fundamentally changing. Organizations are racing to put data to work across analytics and AI, while AI copilots and agents are emerging as an entirely new class of data consumer. Traditional approaches built around tickets, static permissions, and manual approvals were not designed for this speed, scale, or complexity.

Immuta provides the authorization layer for modern data and AI. Our platform enables organizations to provision governed access to data by policy, by request, and dynamically for AI agents, so people and AI can access the data they need while enterprises maintain security, compliance, and control.

For Chief Data Officers, that means making enterprise data dramatically easier to access and use without giving up governance. For AI leaders, it means giving AI agents secure, governed access to enterprise data so they can move from experimentation into production.

Founded in 2015, Immuta is trusted by Fortune 500 companies and government agencies worldwide.

Our technology ecosystem includes Snowflake, Databricks, AWS, Microsoft Azure, Google Cloud, Okta, ServiceNow, Teradata, Alation, Atlan, and Starburst — connecting Immuta to the data, cloud, identity, and enterprise platforms powering modern data and AI environments.
Immuta has been recognized by Forbes as a top American startup employer, by Inc. Magazine and Built In as one of the best workplaces, and by Fast Company as one of the world’s most innovative companies.
Immuta has raised $263 million from investors including NightDragon, Snowflake, Databricks, ServiceNow, Citi Ventures, Dell Technologies Capital, DFJ Growth, IAG, Intel Capital, March Capital, Okta Ventures, StepStone, Ten Eleven Ventures, and Wipro Ventures.
We operate as a hybrid workplace with offices in Boston, MA; Columbus, OH; and College Park, MD.

ABOUT THE TEAM

The Product Engineering team builds and improves Immuta’s product, a platform that helps organizations use and govern access to data. The team works across software, data, and cloud technologies to turn product ideas and customer needs into reliable capabilities.

As a Product Engineering Intern, you’ll work alongside software engineers and other teammates to build, test, and improve the product. You’ll see how an idea becomes working software, how teams make technical decisions, and what it takes to ship and support code in production.

YOUR INTERNSHIP

At Immuta, interns are treated like members of the team. You’ll join the team’s regular workflow, contribute to real work, and take on responsibilities that reflect your skills and the team’s priorities.

The exact projects will depend on what the team is working on next summer, but you can expect to:

Join the Product Engineering team as an engineer, rather than working on a separate intern-only project.
Contribute to real product work that may be released to production.
Apply concepts from your coursework to practical software engineering problems.
Work with teammates to understand problems, explore solutions, build software, and improve existing product capabilities.
Develop your skills through the team’s normal engineering workflow, including coding, testing, debugging, documentation, and collaboration.
Take ownership of well-scoped work, communicate your progress, and ask questions when you need context or support.
Learn how engineers build and maintain software that supports real customer needs.

TOOLS & TECHNOLOGIES

Depending on your role, you may work with:

TypeScript
Node.js
Angular
PostgreSQL
Docker
APIs, data platforms, and software services
AI-enabled tools and workflows used by your team

You do not need to know every tool listed above. We’re looking for a strong foundation, curiosity, and the ability to learn.

WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR

A strong foundation in computer science or computer engineering, including experience with at least one programming language.
Curiosity, initiative, and willingness to learn.
Strong problem-solving, communication, and collaboration skills.
Experience beyond coursework, such as an internship, hackathon, side project, or other extracurricular experience, is a plus.
