Social Media and Influencer MarketingJob Description:
Have you ever been accused of being extremely online? Do you keep up with social media trends, scroll through Instagram and TikTok with purpose, and have a media diet that could best be described as eclectic, diverse, and maybe even chaotic? Have you ever looked at a campaign and thought, “They should have worked with that creator”?
If so, we’re glad you’re here! Weber Shandwick is seeking a Social + Influencer Intern to join our Washington, D.C. team. This is a hands-on opportunity to learn how social, influencer, paid, owned, and earned media come together to help clients connect with the people who matter most.
You’ll work alongside social, influencer, creative, strategy, media, and public relations teams supporting a range of client programs. You’ll be treated as a fully integrated member of the team, with opportunities to contribute ideas, build practical experience, and learn from smart, supportive colleagues who are invested in your growth. This is a client-facing environment, so curiosity, collaboration, and a willingness to learn will take you far.
POV: You’re our new Social + Influencer Intern
On any given day, you could help research the latest TikTok sound, build an editorial calendar, identify potential creators, draft social copy, monitor online conversations, or pull together a report on content performance. You might be helping brainstorm a campaign in the morning, organizing social assets in the afternoon, and learning about generative AI from one of our subject matter experts before the day is over.
Every day will be a little different—and that’s the point. You’ll gain hands-on experience across social content, influencer programs, digital trends, analytics, and integrated communications while working with clients and colleagues who take the work seriously—and know how to have fun doing it.
What You’ll Do
- Support the development and execution of social and digital campaigns that connect with broader paid, owned, and earned media programs.
- Research platforms, trends, audiences, creators, and cultural conversations to inform content and campaign ideas.
- Help maintain editorial calendars, draft short-form content, organize assets, and support AI-assisted content ideation with thoughtful review.
- Assist with social listening, performance reporting, and the development of charts, summaries, and client-ready materials.
- Support influencer and creator programs by researching partners, organizing information, and helping track project details.
- Collaborate with social, influencer, creative, strategy, media, and PR teams while communicating progress and asking questions early.
- Bring fresh, culture-first digital insights to brainstorms, client work, and new business opportunities.
Who Are We Looking For?
We think you’ll be most successful if you’re curious, plugged in, collaborative, and eager to get involved. You don’t need to know every platform trend or have every answer—but you should be willing to ask thoughtful questions, learn quickly, and bring your perspective to the work. You love digital culture and enjoy noticing what makes people stop, share, comment, or keep scrolling
- You’re comfortable learning new platforms and working in a fast-paced environment where priorities can shift.
- You can communicate clearly, write engaging short-form copy, and turn information into useful takeaways.
- You’re organized, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple deadlines with guidance.
- You’re curious about brands, creators, culture, public affairs, and the issues shaping online conversations.
- You’re a collaborative teammate who enjoys contributing to a high-performing agency environment.
Skills: This is what you need to know—or be excited to learn—in this role.
- Familiarity with major social platforms such as LinkedIn, Instagram, TikTok, X, YouTube, or Threads—and curiosity about what’s next.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, including an interest in writing engaging short-form content.
- Familiarity with Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint or similar tools for organizing information and creating presentations.
- Interest in social listening, web analytics, platform-native insights, influencer marketing, or digital performance measurement.
- Fluency with or willingness to learn generative AI tools for content ideation, research, summarization, and analysis.
- Strong organizational, time-management, and project-management skills, with a sharp eye for detail.
What you’ll get from us
- A Supportive Launch: A dedicated buddy, built-in mentorship from social, influencer, and account teams, plus workshops and coaching to build practical agency skills.
- A Paid Path Forward: A paid internship at 40 hours per week, with the chance to explore where social, influencer, communications, and digital strategy could take you next.
Requirements
- Currently pursuing or recently completed a degree in communications, marketing, advertising, public relations, journalism, business, or a related field; equivalent experience will also be considered.
- Coursework, project work, internship experience, or personal experience with social media, content creation, influencer marketing, or digital culture is a plus.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
- Ability to work in a hybrid capacity from Weber Shandwick’s Washington, D.C. office.
