Platform & Site Reliability Engineering Internship - Summer 2027 at Immuta

Immuta is the Data Authorization Company, helping the world’s largest organizations control who, and what, can access their data.

The way enterprises access data is fundamentally changing. Organizations are racing to put data to work across analytics and AI, while AI copilots and agents are emerging as an entirely new class of data consumer. Traditional approaches built around tickets, static permissions, and manual approvals were not designed for this speed, scale, or complexity.

Immuta provides the authorization layer for modern data and AI. Our platform enables organizations to provision governed access to data by policy, by request, and dynamically for AI agents, so people and AI can access the data they need while enterprises maintain security, compliance, and control.

For Chief Data Officers, that means making enterprise data dramatically easier to access and use without giving up governance. For AI leaders, it means giving AI agents secure, governed access to enterprise data so they can move from experimentation into production.

Founded in 2015, Immuta is trusted by Fortune 500 companies and government agencies worldwide.

Our technology ecosystem includes Snowflake, Databricks, AWS, Microsoft Azure, Google Cloud, Okta, ServiceNow, Teradata, Alation, Atlan, and Starburst — connecting Immuta to the data, cloud, identity, and enterprise platforms powering modern data and AI environments.
Immuta has been recognized by Forbes as a top American startup employer, by Inc. Magazine and Built In as one of the best workplaces, and by Fast Company as one of the world’s most innovative companies.
Immuta has raised $263 million from investors including NightDragon, Snowflake, Databricks, ServiceNow, Citi Ventures, Dell Technologies Capital, DFJ Growth, IAG, Intel Capital, March Capital, Okta Ventures, StepStone, Ten Eleven Ventures, and Wipro Ventures.
We operate as a hybrid workplace with offices in Boston, MA; Columbus, OH; and College Park, MD.

ABOUT THE TEAM

The Site Reliability Engineering team helps keep Immuta’s products reliable, deployable, and maintainable in production. The team builds software and automation, works with AWS and other cloud services, and improves how applications are released, operated, monitored, and supported.

In other words, Site Reliability Engineering sits at the intersection of software engineering and operations. As an intern, you’ll work alongside engineers who build the systems and tools that help software run reliably at scale. You’ll learn how applications move from code to deployed services and how teams improve production systems over time.

YOUR INTERNSHIP

At Immuta, interns are treated like members of the team. You’ll join the team’s regular workflow, contribute to real work, and take on responsibilities that reflect your skills and the team’s priorities.

The exact projects will depend on what the team is working on next summer, but you can expect to:

Join the Site Reliability Engineering team as an engineer, rather than working on a separate intern-only project.

Build software and services that support the deployment, operation, and maintenance of Immuta’s products.

Work with teammates to improve how software is released, operated, monitored, and maintained.

Gain experience connecting software development with cloud services, production systems, and reliability.

Apply your programming and problem-solving skills to practical systems and infrastructure challenges.

Learn how engineers investigate issues, improve systems, and make software more reliable over time.

Take ownership of well-scoped work, communicate your progress, and ask questions when you need context or support.

TOOLS & TECHNOLOGIES

Depending on your role, you may work with:

AWS and other cloud services

Software deployment and maintenance workflows

Production systems, reliability, monitoring, and troubleshooting practices

Cloud infrastructure, containerization, or infrastructure tooling

APIs and backend services

AI-enabled tools and workflows used by your team

You do not need to know every tool listed above. We’re looking for a strong foundation, curiosity, and the ability to learn.

WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR

A foundation in software engineering and experience with at least one programming language.

Interest in learning new software, systems, and technologies, including Go.

Interest in the broader software lifecycle, including building, deploying, operating, and maintaining applications.

Strong problem-solving, communication, and collaboration skills.

Experience beyond coursework, such as building or deploying an application, an internship, a hackathon, or a side project, is a plus.

At Immuta, our goal is to help bridge the gap between personal and professional growth, so that our team members can be well and thrive personally and professionally.
