Internship - Quantum Applications Research
About QuEra Computing, Inc.
QuEra Computing is building the world’s most powerful neutral-atom quantum computers. Our systems are designed to scale and enable groundbreaking advances in science and technology. We collaborate closely with leading academic and industry partners to push the boundaries of quantum computing, error correction, and fault tolerance.
Summary
QuEra Computing Inc. seeks a Quantum Applications Research Intern to join our growing team of scientists and engineers developing quantum applications for QuEra’s neutral atom quantum computers. As an intern, you will collaborate with leading experts in quantum information and AMO physics to explore, model, and test new approaches for using neutral atoms for quantum computation. This role offers an exceptional opportunity to gain hands-on experience at the intersection of theory and hardware, contributing directly to the advancement of scalable quantum computing.
Possible internship projects include mapping quantum simulation algorithms for strongly correlated spin and fermionic problems onto logical microarchitectures, the development of scalable hardware-aware resource estimation tools for complex quantum workloads and noise modeling to further refine QuEra’s digital hardware twins. Applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis, and those received before Nov. 15, 2026 are guaranteed full consideration. Internship terms are flexible, including outside the summer, and can be arranged around candidates’ availability.
Qualifications
- Solid background in quantum computing and quantum information processing
- Strong communication skills and enthusiasm for cross-disciplinary collaboration
Preferred Qualifications
- Currently enrolled in or have completed a Ph.D. program in Physics, Computer Science, or a related field
- Strong programming skills and experience with quantum circuit simulation SDKs (e.g., cirq or Qiskit, stim)
- Experience using AI coding agents (Claude Code, Cursor, or similar) as part of a real research or development workflow
- Experience with resource estimation frameworks (e.g., Qualtran)
- Familiarity with neutral atom quantum computing hardware and AMO physics
Why Join QuEra?
You will be part of a collaborative, fast-moving team at the forefront of quantum technology. This internship offers exposure to both cutting-edge theory and practical implementation, with opportunities to contribute to peer-reviewed research and real-world quantum hardware development.
On-site internship. There is no relocation offered for this role.
