Internship - Quantum Error Correction Research
About QuEra Computing, Inc.
QuEra Computing is building the world’s most powerful neutral-atom quantum computers. Our systems are designed to scale and enable groundbreaking advances in science and technology. We collaborate closely with leading academic and industry partners to push the boundaries of quantum computing, error correction, and fault tolerance.
Description
QuEra Computing Inc. seeks a Quantum Error Correction (QEC) Research Intern to join our growing team of scientists and engineers developing hardware-efficient and scalable quantum error correction schemes. As an intern, you will work alongside experts in theoretical and experimental quantum information to help design, simulate, and analyze error correction strategies for our neutral-atom quantum computing platform. This role offers an exceptional opportunity to gain hands-on experience at the intersection of theory and hardware, contributing directly to the development of large-scale fault-tolerant quantum computation.
Possible internship projects include development of novel logical gate schemes with low overhead, improved decoding methods, and implementation of QEC protocols on state-of-the-art quantum hardware. Applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis, and those received before Nov. 15, 2026 are guaranteed full consideration. Internship terms are flexible, including outside the summer, and can be arranged around candidates’ availability.
Qualifications
- Solid background in quantum computing and quantum error correction
- Strong communication skills and enthusiasm for cross-disciplinary collaboration
Preferred Qualifications
- Currently enrolled in or have completed a Ph.D. program in Physics, Computer Science, or a related field
- Strong programming skills and experience with numerical simulation tools (e.g., Stim, decoders, or other custom code)
- Familiarity with experimental or hardware-informed QEC implementations
Why Join QuEra?
You will be part of a collaborative, fast-moving team at the forefront of quantum technology. This internship offers exposure to both cutting-edge theory and practical implementation, with opportunities to contribute to peer-reviewed research and real-world quantum hardware development.
On-site internship. There is no relocation offered for this role.
